Scout

January 28th, 2002

The Scout Report announced today that it has begun to author three new reports, all funded by the National Science Foundation as part of a National Science Digital Library Project. Every week, professional librarians and subject matter experts will evaluate web sites in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. They will pick the best of them, and annotate each resource. The reports are available on their Web site or via an email newsletter.

The Scout Report has been coming out of Department of Computer Sciences at the University of Wisconsin-Madison since 1994. Librarians, researchers and Web enthusiast have been reading reports on other subjects since then.

Now, if only the site was built with valid, broadly accessible HTML. It is a shame to see such an excellent resource is built with shoddy mark up. It is sort of like putting your best book collection on a wobbly bookshelf.

Congratulations to the Mirror Project. 4000 and growing. Digital Web Magazine has a new issue. Catherine has posted photos from her most recent journey. Someone needs to duck tape her to her chair.

The NYPL site is popping up as some kind of example on a new CSS list serve. Are we an example of good or evil?

Me? A have a mild case of hostess anxiety.
