Kris Kringle

December 12th, 2001

I have a little confession to make; before last night, I had never seen Miracle on 34th Street all the way through. It made quite an impression, and I am feeling especially receptive to stories about letters to Santa today.

Operation Santa Claus is a 70 year-old New York post office program. This time every year the post office collects letters addressed to Kris Kringle and distributes them to people who want to make a Christmas wish come true. The majority of the notes are from underprivileged kids. To participate stop by the main New York branch of the post office (421 Eighth Avenue, at 33rd Street) before December 22, or call (212-967-8585) and they will send you a letter.

Thanks to some scrumptious matzo ball soup made and delivered by a friend, I am feeling much better.
